Religious ,5 As Father Reilly taught the Sophomores and jun- iors at St. Helena's weekly-almost to the last week of his life-his message was penetrating and sincere. The students of St. Helena's will always remem- ber Father as a priest whose loving interest and loyal support were matters of great importance to him. Father Reilly gloried in the task of helping to open wide the doors of his beloved Faith to all. The secret of his appeal was his great love for souls. To know Father Reilly was to love him. He was gentle and understanding. His memory will live al- ways in the souls of those he served during his priestly career. Father Reilly has left us-but he will live always in the prayers of the students of St. Helena's School. REVEREND JOHN R. REILLY Died November 26, 1956

My dear Graduates of 1957: It is a source of personal gratification to know that on the occasion of my Golden Jubilee, I am to share my gratitude to God and my happiness with the graduates of the class of '57. In number you register over three hundred, which is our largest class of girls. In studies you have set the highest standards, and have given prestige to the Sisters and lay teachers who have given their all for you. In your many social and athletic activi- ties during your four years of high school, you have exemplified the principle that It is fun to be good. Lastly, but most important of all, the class of '57 has walked close to God and our Blessed Lady during these formative and most important years. Your retreats, your visits to our devotional chapel, your processions, your fre- quent reception of the sacraments, have been a source of edification to me and an assurance of your deep spiritual life for the years ahead. The class of '57 will also have the satisfaction and happiness in recalling that it was in their senior year that the charter was granted by the State Board of Regents to St. Helena's High School, a most important and historical event. Through this yearbook I extend my felicitations to your dear parents, to the Dominican Sisters of the Holy Rosary, to your lay teachers, and above all to you, the graduates of the class of '57. May each one of you remain true to the fine spiritual prin- ciples and ideals of your school and then a final graduation for each one of you into the Kingdom of H eaven.
