-ye-n-,- 5 5 Herman Lewis kneels as Monsignor Scanlan bestows his senior ring. C ING EREMONY' On the Feast of the Holy Rosary, October 7, nearly one hundred and twenty seniors received their senior rings in a solemn ceremony in the school chapel. Monsignor Arthur Scanlan blessed and distributed the rings and then spoke to the seniors and their parents concerning the history of the ring and its significance. He mentioned that the ring was a symbol which the senior should carry into later life, a symbol of our Catholic education. Furthermore he reminded the seniors who wear these rings that they had certain obligations. He outlined what these obligations were and what they mean to the student. The ceremony was concluded with Benediction of the Blessed Sacra- ment. Led by Brother Damian Victor, a choir con- sisting of members of the faculty sang at Benediction. In concluding the memorable and enjoyable evening, the seniors and their parents partook of the refresh- ments served in the school cafeteria. To the seniors the reception of their rings meant that the culmina- tion of their high school careers was drawing ever closer. To the parents it especially dignified the real- ization of dreams and hopes - their sons had attained a good Catholic education, a Marist education, one that would lead them to jesus through Mary. james Mulvey receives his senior ring from Monsignor as Brother james and Brother Christopher look on. 144,45 , .-44-M Q...
