Under the capable and enthusiastic coaching of .lack Mahoney the Crusaders ended the season with the Bronx Cham pionship and a 9-3 record. After having lost the first non-league game, the team under the co-captainship of Bob Lee and Harry Norum went on to win the first round of league games. The two defeats in the second round were suffered at the hands of Manhattan Prep and St. George. A victorious play-off game with Tolentine at Babe Ruth Stadium gave St. Helena the championship trophy of the Bronx division With the cheering support of many students the Crusaders faced Bishop Loughlin of Brooklyn for the third place C.H.S.A.A. standing at Ebbets Field.
