75 THE GENESIA llcre's to a successful play! E. Lorenzi. H. Hoerner. R. DiFranco. F. Cassidy Foremost among the extra-curricular social organ- izations at St. Helena High School is the Dramatic Society, by name, the Genesians. The club was found- ed in September, 1951, by Brother Felix Eugene, who was transferred late in 1952 and is currently carrying on work as a missionary in the Philippines. Its name is derived from the actor, St. Genesius, who was stoned to death in Rome for admitting his Christianity. The Dramatic Club has the honor of being the oldest extra-curricular activity in the school, and has lived up to this distinction since its beginning. This year its moderator is Brother Francis Thomas who took Brother Eugene's place in September, 1952. The Genesians have three main purposes: first, to promote wholesome Catholic enjoyment in the field of entertainment, second, to stimulate interest in the theater within the school, and third, to provide en- tertainment and recreation for the school, students and faculty alike. In all these endeavors it has suc- ceeded in effecting its objective. The Club's produc- tion of its Hrst three-act play, Brother Orchid, for which painstaking attention was given to all details, surpassed all its past triumphs. The play had appeared on Broadway, it met with similar success in St. Helena's auditorium. At present the Clubs list of members includes thirty students, four of whom have been elected as the Society's officers. Its President is Neil Ken- nedy Cclass of 555, and its Vice-President is Henry Hoerner Cclass of 543. Chosen as Secretary is Philip Sandstrom Lclass of 535, and, last but not least, is its Treasurer, Roland DiFranco Cclass of '5-49. We at St. Helena's are very proud of the Genesians . . . not only because of their fine plays, but also be- cause a club such as this is a fine demonstration of school spirit, as are all the other extra-curricular ac- tivities in the school. Good spirit is a powerful factor in determining the rise of a school, it is akin to a block of concrete upon which the entire school rests. Bro. Eugene, founder of Genesians, en route to missions 7 BJ'67'lf.' ov Lct's go. two minutes to curtain! F. Cassidy, Bro. Anthony, Mr. Keating

UD, 9 LU ggrother Paul Wilfrg arrived at'.St. Helena's in gptember, 51952, and th him came the St. Helena's Qiudio Club. Its formal ginning took place in Oc- itober, one month later. Ii its first year, its members already number twenty-Seven, all freshmen. Next year the present members iwill be re-admitted and a new group of freshmen will be taken in, keeping this procedure throughout the club's entire life-span. The main purpose of the club is to give its members a working knowledge of radio,-50 that some may even- tually receive amateur ham transmitters' licenses. A license, of this type will ermble an amateur radio enthusiast to practice radio Bansmission, on the air. Foremost in the club's cufgent activities is the construction of a radio ' ' by each member, i ' b Club. Although extra-curricular most flourish- the materials being supplied the Audio Club is one of the activitiegtin the school, it is one ing. Most of the work is for the personal benefit of the members themselves and tends to create a keener incentive for all concerned. Every afternoon the staff may be found in the Science Lab, their workshop, diligently performing their assigned tasks. Needless to say, the future for them is as a ,vast field, merely waiting to be harvested. The objective of the club is to build a ham transmitter for the use of the entire organization. The officers of the Audio Club are elected semi- annually by the members. The first elections pl'0- duced Marc Labelle, Presidentg Charles Schultz, Vice- Presidentg Robert Barry, Secretary, and William Mol- loy, Treasurer. In the mid-year elections, Marc La- belle retained his presidency, and the members chose William ,Molloy as Vice-President, Eugene Kneip as Secretaryjand Robert Barry as Treasurer, all in the class of '56.
