GFP SOPHOMORE LEGACY Having passed through the initial year, we, the sophomores, have earned the right to be full-fledged members of the school. No longer are we insignificant, for sophs are a definite part of all school activities. In this transition, we have attained knowledge of the school's workings and have acquired partial experience in its affairs. Truthfully, we have become novice upper-classmen. Accordingly, a completely new attitude has developed, based on the experience of freshman year and the prestige of being upper-classmen. So gradual is the growth of this frame of mind that it is indiscernible even to us. Regardless of this fact, we still become proud and independent. The result of this basis for action is that sophs tend to scoff at authority and to balk at any command. When the point is reached where we feel that our opinions and suggestions match or supercede any decision concerning us, we have fulfilled the true mean- ing of the term sophomore and have attained the pinnacle of perfection in second year, we have become amateur-experts. As second-year students we are amateurs, but as sophomores we are definitely experts. At this stage, our most important possession is personal opinion based upon our newly-found freedom. Through the use of this new tool We can justify our every complaint and help to correct the mistaken views and decisions of authority. We recognize the above-mentioned statements as typical attitudes of sophomore year. As we ourselves become exposed to this period of our life, these attitudes seem so natural and proper. And yet, we were prompted into looking up the term sophomore in the dictionary by one of our teachers who told us we'd be amazed at its derivation, shocked would be a far truer word to express our reaction at discovering that it means wise fool ! Nevertheless, until time and experience prove us to be wrong, it remains for others to hold their patience while we sophs ride out our storm. FROSH, CARE- FULLY TAKE NOTE! S x Q Wig is ..-
