This is one series ol plays on which Martin made a touchdown. Freddie is being hauled down by a group ol Savages in the opener ol the season against Tecumseh. Right: Ralph Foster, Guard. Right, at cor- ner: Fred Martin. Starting the season off with a bang, the Knights rolled over the Tecumseh Savages by the score of 14-7. This, by the way, was the first time in four years that we had won the opener. To keep the ball bounc- ing, the Knights snapped up two more wins, a 27-12 victory over the Fox Redskins and a 'I4-13 decision over Chilocco. Purcell handed St. Gregory's its first defeat of the season, T8-7, but, coming back un- daunted, the Knights blanked Marquette to the tu-ne of 12-0 in the first conference game of the season. Playing before a large crowd of enthusiastic rooters, the Catholic High Irish fell victim to the Knights 40-6 in the annual homecoming game. Then, riding high on their pre- vious win, the green and white clad hurricanes flew over Holy Family 26-7. The big heartbreaker of the season was the 6-7 loss to Cascia Hall. This was the Knight's only conference loss. On the comeback trail again, the Knights blasted the St. Mary Rockets of Oklahoma City, 36-O, only to be beaten 13-26 in a non-conference tilt with Central High school of Oklahoma City. With the loss of one conference game the Knights moved into a three-way tie for the State Catholic Championship with Marquette and Cascia Hall. Highlighting the season was the first East-West All-Star game held on Thanksgiving Day for the benefit of St. Joseph's Orphanage. Having a team comprised of players from St. Gregory's, St. Mary's and Catholic High, the West, coached by Father Daniel, won the tilt over the East T8-T 3. The Eastern team was made up of players from the three Catholic high schools in Tulsa. Sixteen Knights were selected to represent St. Gregory's in this All-Star game. These were John and Jim Vosburgh, Dan Kavanaugh, Mike Scully, Marvin Brunner, Jack Krall, Bob McClendon, Hank Brad- ley, John McCullough, Freddie Martin, Tom Goodall, Bill Helean, Ernest Negrete and Joe Lee. Mike Scully was awarded a trophy for being the outstanding back of the game. ii' t l i l l fs:- r f Hank Bradley, Safety Tom Goodall, Quarterback
