BASKETB LL WA RRIOR A SQUA D In action from left to right are Tony Brink- man, David McNamara, Andy Long, Ronnie Hitt--a bulwarkon defense and second highest scorer for the teamg Dennis Swift, half hidden in the backgroundg Dick Stine--high scorer of the squad with 263 points, on the far right is Leon Geary, Ronnie Middlebrooks is not pic- tured. With the smallest A SQUAD in the history of the school, a great load was placed upon each of these youngsters. With the added burden of their scholastic requirements, daily practices, seasonal sickness, outside activities, and afternoon jobs, these basketeers had a full curriculum. It must be to their credit, not as to the team scores, or the games won or lost, but the manner of their competitive spirit and play. Clean play, sportsmanship and harmony amongst these youngsters throught the entire season is a fine example Set down for the teams of St. Gregory in the future. - Individually, Ronnie Hitt with his fine defensive play, setting up plays and personal scoring, was a mainstay of the team and a thorn in the side of every opponent St. Gregory played. Dick Stine, playing a fast break type of offense to perfection, led the team in scoring with 2.63 points, and was a scoring menace every second of the ball game. ' David McNamara and Leon Geary rounded out the top four high scorers with 154 and 125 points respectively. Little Tony Brink- man was the only individual who participated in every game of the schedule. TROPHY Ronnie Hitt accepts from Coach John P. Owens the team's trophy, emblematic of the JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL CHURCH LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP. ' -
