Equip- ment added includes two new Necchi machines, a new swing needle Singer, six individual sewing tables , two large cutting tables, a triple mirror, a model- ing stand for measuring skirt lengths. Most of the improvements have been a donation,in- cluding the tile on the floor, fr m a friend of Sis- ter M. Dominica. An effort is being made to beauti- fy the department still more with attractive plants As a help to the poor, one box was sent to the orphanage for negro children at Grand Coteau, Louis- iana, three boxes to the Indian school at Chamber- lain, South Dakota, one box to the Indian school at Stephan, South Dakota, and a box to leper girls in the Philippines. Part of the clothing in the boxes was made by students of the sewing class and the rest was a donation. 30

For an activity the class prepared a banquet for the faculty and boarders just before Christmas vacation. For semester tests the girls were divided into four groups each of which had to cook a dinner, breakfast, luncheon, or a buffet dinner. Table arranged for the buffet dinner by Marlene Tierney and Rita Beale shown in the snapshot. This year the hot lunch program has been in operation for the en- tire year. 'S v .
