WHAT HAPPENED ON THE NIGHT OF MAY 26, 1963 This evening the graduating class of May 1953, has gathered together for its first class re- union. We are here tonight to renew old friendships. We will now reveal to each other our past secrets. The reunion is being held in the old-faithful meeting place, the Gym. My, how times have changed! As we near the famous corner of New Braunfels and Iowa Streets, we notice two former stu- dents alight from a 1963 Cadillac convertible. The taller one, in uniform, is BENNIE KEL- LER, a General at Lackland Air Force Base. Standing beside him is his wife, the former KATHLEEN MUENCHOW, who, herself, is a famous designer at Joske's. Welcoming the guests is PATRICIA VOGEL, a member of the Faculty at St. Gerard's High School. At this moment she is greeting ROBERT CARABIN and JAMES HEAD, who are profes- sors at St. Mary's University. As we enter the gym, the program is beginning. The master of ceremonies is TOM LANE, a natural born comedian. He is now introducing the orchestra, among which are four former students: JOSEPH RAZ, trumpet, CLARA KADURA, clarinet, ALICE SCHEEL, clarinet, and BERNICE SCHEEL, saxaphone. As the music of the band is ending, we see DELORES NIETO come forth to sing the famous Ave Maria . As the applause is dying away, TOM LANE enters into the spotlight to announce the next act which is a solo piano number by the famous concert pianist, ETHERINE DRAMBERGER, playing the difficult Polonaise by Chopin. Approaching the head table at which are seated the mayor of our ever-growing town, JAMES SULLIVAN and his party including ELROY RIHN, city manager, and JULIE JOSEPH, a pro- fessional artist, is a well-dressed woman. Yes, it's MARY ADELE GUERRA, the only one of the class who has reached Hollywood. She has replaced Irene Dunn in the field of acting. As refreshments are about to start, the grace before meals is offered by Reverend FRANCIS KELLY. He is now doing wonderful work in Russia converting the Reds. Entering the doorway we see JOSEPH CAMPBELL making his entrance-late as usual. He is now trying to make his fortune by selling novelty bottles. Seated at the far table are two neat-looking characters. As we approach the table we dis- cover that they are HAROLD VARGA and LEROY GROHMAN. They both have done well as partners of Stein's Clothing for men. My goodness! There are two stars, basketball stars, that is, in our midst. They are LUPE MONTEZ and LUCY ANN JUDD. They are now playing for the Coca-Cola Bottling Com- pany. Here comes JAY NORTON and JUSTIN TUDYK. These two are noted for their T. V. Comic Show. The charming SHIRLEY LANDRY, who won the title of Miss Texas last year, is here with her press agent, DELBERT ROSE. EVELYN POPP, who represented San Antonio in the contest, accompanies Shirley and her agent. We now see TILLIE LEE STANUSH in a stunning dress which was designed by CLARENCE HAMEL. They are in business together, Clarence designing and Tillie sewing. Their shop is located on Houston Street. Afew doors down is the Diamond Theatre, one of the dozens owned by millionaires , ANNE GOODRICH and VIRGINIA HERDEN. Also present tonight are LUCILLE MULLINS a very successful journalist. and FRED O'LEARY,the editor of the Latest Happening. The Broadway hit Western Spurs written by INEZ FONTENO is really successful. The credit for the melodies goes to ALICE FAYE HEIDEN. The star of the show is PATSY KLEY- PAS who plays the role of a happy singing cowgirl from the Texas Hills. With Pat is her financial manager, CLARA DE BACKER. They're both wearing western outfits. This group is seated at the center table. Approaching them is ANNETTE SEIDEL, a famed authoress. She just finished the book Out on the Desert . She must have been thinking of warming herself when she wrote this book because she now lives in Alaska. Oh Yes! There's FRANK DIXON. He is now the coach of the Longhorns at Texas Univer- sity. With Frank is his friend and noted football player LEO WHITLEY. After graduation JAMES MOODY joined the Foreign Legion. He is here tonight dressed in the Legion's regular uniform. CLAUDIA MEGERLE is now a well-known surgeon at Santa Rosa Hospital. Also on the staff at the hospital is ROBERTA DIXON specializing in Pediatric Nursing. Claudia is an ex- cellent surgeon in performing brain operations. The twins, MARY AND MARTHA WEBER are now professionally in the business world. Mary is the secretary to the mayor, and Martha is the financial advisor for him. DONALD MOLTER has become a successful engineer. He planned the causeway at Corpus Christi. JOHN FLATTEN assisted him in the planning. These two men have planned many other famous engineering projects. CARMEN PEREZ and EVELYN MEUTH are now professors at the famous Lady of the Lake College. Carmen teaches Spanish, and teaching the use of office machines is Evelyn. Also at the Lake is VERONICA KRZENIAK , who is coach of their basketball team. She nasagreat team this year! Let us pay a visit to our chief of police WAYNE SCHMIDT and our chief of the fire de- partment, FRED SIMON. Just looking at them you can see the tense look on their faces waiting for that police call or that fire alarmseated with them is HARVEY SPEARwho is the advertising manager of McDoodle Noodle Company. They manufacture the best noodles in the whole world Right after graduation, MARY LOU VALLIER married. She is now keeping the home fires warm while her husband is working in California. LYNWOOD SIEBOLD owns the Siebold Mod- eling Studio. He has brought a model with him, who happens to be a former student. She is BARBARA MITCHELL. BARBARA HABY has succeeded to become San Antonio's leading piano tuner. She can usually be found in Joske's attending one of their sales. JOHN MANGUS is the captain of the fire Fighters of our plantation of Oil Wells. Seated at one of the tables is ELEANOR BEISSNER with her flock of nine children. Even though the job of keeping her children together is great, she seems to be having a wonderful time. CHARLENE PETRY and CECELIA NORMAN are seated at the table opposites Eleanor. They have traveled all over the world hunting for rare species of flowers. In our presence are GUADALUPE FLORES and STANLEY FRIESENHAHN. Guadalupe is star stunt pilot of the world. Stanley accompanies him and takes photographs of plantations in Virginia. On his way down, he met ELIZABETH GANZELEN, who now resides in Georgia. She is the manager of the cotton manufacturing company. The dinner is finished and is concluded by a discussion of the Fall Campaign plans by Congress- woman, MARY ELLEN ELEMENDORF. Now, Mary Ellen is introducing OLIVIA INGRIOLA, who is here representing the Department of Treasury. She explains to us some of the financial difficulties that are present in our treasury department today. Although tired, we, the Class of '53 are glad we were able to attend this get-together and renew old happy days gone by. Each of us here tonight will return to his prospective duties, always remembering the reunion of 1963. r -LC! fahlf sf olldffn V Jame s Moody Frank Dixon Annette Seidel 'ff' ff' W Q , I ' 421 Barbara Mitchell -M v Q fggl, Barbara I-Iaby Elroy Rihn B. qua W. ,,.., . .W A., 4, X M wwf + x I at ff ' VFW N i up ....1f ,'-:+L -1' ,Q - I ' f i t ..
