VERY REVEREND JOSEPH FLANAGAN, C. Ss. R. Our pastor, the Very Reverend joseph Flana- gan, C.Ss.R., has been an outstanding example of efficiency during the past years. His suc- cess in securing equipment for our alma mater is in evidence throughout the building, and his untiring labor in behalf of the new imposing structure now nearing completion deserves our sincerest gratitude. By his kindness at all times, his fine sense of humor, his winning personality, and, above all, by his edifying priestly character, Father Flanagan has endeared himself to the entire student body. The graduates of 1948 pledge to him their support of his work in the years to come. HIS EXCELLENCY ROBERT E. LUCEY Like the Good Shepherd Wliom he repre- sents in our great arch-diocese, the Most Rev- erend Robert E. Lucey extends his pastoral staff over his entire flock. His Excellency has done not only notable work to improve our system of Catholic education, but he has been a staunch defender of religious training for those who are not privileged to attend Catholic schools. He was a gracious host to the lfirst Regional Inter-American Congress of Christian Doctrine in October, which all high schools were permitted to attend, and from which they derived an increase of faith and a great desire to share that faith with others. For this un- usual opportunity and for our Archbishop's whole-hearted interest in all that pertains to the spiritual uplift of the youth under his care, the students are deeply grateful.

THE FACULTY The members of the faculty, the School Sisters of Notre Dame, have been not only our teachers in various branches of learning, but they have been our friends as well. Their one great purpose in life is the training and guidance of youth on the way that leads to eternal happiness. A generous spirit of self-sacrifice prompted them to leave all things to fol- low the greatest Teacher of all times, and this same spirit has permeated all their efforts as Catholic educators. Only those who have come under their influence can realize the value of the splendid work they have ac- complished. The members of the Class of 1948 feel that they owe their teachers a debt which they can never repay. Sister M. Augusta S.S.N.D. Science and Latin Sister M. Dorothy S.S.N.D.
