600 ents ,acuity 8 lasses 32 ports 46 Cfl'Vl'flf5 58 usmess 87 Foreword We, the Catholic Youth of America, are the future citizens of our country. Here at St. George High School good citizenship and high Christian ideals are instilled into our characters. In order to acquire such virtues as charity, loyalty, honesty, and the other Christian virtues which should be practiced, we must have a guide and model. Who would be better suited for our guide than our own patron, Saint George? A finer soldier for both God and country never existed. In these days of strife that need so much an inspiration of courage, we are fortunate to have this great leader, our beloved patron. Throughout our four years of high school, he has been to us an example of all that is noble and righteous. In and out of classes, at work, at play, or at prayer, Saint George has been the hope of our young lives and the example to follow in all our actions. What better or more fitting way to end our school days than to have Saint George as the theme of our final contri- bution, the GEORGIAN? Come, follow us through our high school days and see what our patron's inspiration has enabled us to accomplish.

Edwdflbll RIGHT REVEREND MONSIGNOR CARL P. HENSLER, S.T.D., V.F. We are happy to have this opportun- ity to make public our esteem and respect for our dear friend and de- voted pastor. Monsignor Hensler seems to be extremely interested in the words of Margaret Baker and Robert Lawry, as they show him the plans for the 1959 GEORGIAN. K-4-I To our Beloved Pastor--In a spirit of great and sincere appreciation for his constant concern for our spiritual and educational needs we dedicate our yearbook to a great scholar with exceptional warmth and friendliness of character. The dimensions of that character are many. As a student in the American College at Rome, Monsignor Hensler made a record that has rarely been equalled, He spent a few years in the Orient as missionary and teacher, taught in an Ameri- can Catholic institution of higher learning, and was a leading figure in the Catholic Social Movement of the middle thirties. At present he is engaged in normal parish duties, combined with his work as Dean of the Diocesan southeast district, and director of the Institute of Adult Education of the Pitts- burgh Diocese. In the Catholic Social Movement our pastor was no mere bystander. He participated both as a scholar and as an activist. His articles, statements, and addresses were part of the education of countless laymen and priests. He was an active participant in the founding of Saint Jose-ph's House of Hospitality, the Association of Catholic Trade Unionists, and the short-lived ibut very necessary in its day, Catholic Radical Alliance. His prestige has a universal character. He is respected nationally in lay and clerical circles for his general scholar- ship. The labor unions still seek his advice, as do those on the management side, for in his wisdom he makes decisions which benefit both.
