l'l ggieeffl RELIGIOUS FACULTY The Sisters of Mercy of the Union, Scranton Province, form the Religious Faculty of the school. The Congregation has its Provincial House in Dallas, Pennsylvania but its institutions extend to British Guiana, South America, Dio- ceses of Scranton, Brooklyn, Altoona, Harrisburg, and the Archdiocese of Phila- delphia. The Order was founded in Ireland in 1831 by Mother Catherine lVlcAuley. From Ireland the Order of the Sisters of Mercy spread to England, Scotland, the United States, British and South America, Australia, and New Zealand. The Sisters conduct elementary schools, high schools, academies, junior col- leges, senior colleges, catechetical schools, orphanages, homes for business girls, hospitals, homes for aged, sanitaria, and service in the leper colonies.
