In them is perfectly realized the purpose of Christian Education. They are the exemplars of Christian principles, the fruits of Christian train- ing. For the Saints did not renounce the activities of this life, they did not stunt their natural facultiesg but they developed and perfected them, by coordinating them with the supernatural. They thus ennobled what is merely natural in life and secured for it new strength in the material and temporal order, no less than in the spiritual and eternal. Under the particular patronage of Our Lady of Mercy, during our years at St. Gahriel's, we have been instructed no less in the arts and sciences than in the fundamentals of the true Christian character Mthat the life of Christ may be manifest in usi'-This hook is a link with those happy days now past. One must look long and hard to find anyone who put more ergs of effort to do the job right, or anyone more conscientious about her stud- ies. However, her outlook was not broad enough to toler- ate chemistry, and she would seek relief in her world of periodicals, or on the dance floor. Truly a grand girl and a swell classmate. Missions. Quiet and persistent with a n1ind,of her own, Regina was always quick in action and .violent in.reaction. The more irons she had in the fire the happier' she was. At any time one could find her in at least three, usually about six, ex- tra-curricular activities. Her complacency and smile won her a place as MOUI' Girl , and the slogan, 'There is time for and moderation ,in every- thing, will enable ther to keep any situation well in hand. Missions, Camera Club, Students' Association. Possessing a pair of won- dering feet, an infectious grin, and an inexhaustiblc store of tall stories, versatile Sally was soon a popular figure among her classmates. Crim- ly determined that her studies would never gain the upper hand, she also demonstrated an all around proficiency on the dance floor. This knack of accomplishment coupled with a philosophy of always looking ahead, spells happi- ness for Sally. ITROURKE SAINT GABmEL's SAINT GABRIELlS SAINT GABRIELlS Loads-of-fun, is all that is needed to perfectly describe Kay. Always genial, any gath- ering is lightened by her un- limited supply of anecdotes and facial expressions. Her quick wit give her an answer to every inquiry and a solu- tion to every predicament. Those qualities make her everybody's friend, a fact of which she can well be proud. She was perhaps the only stu- dent able to start Monday morning with a song on her lips. Missi ons, Camera. uSpeed Bill best typifies G'Snuffy , a mainstay of the class and the basketball team for the past three years. Never worried or hurried he made the system fit him. He found enough time to star, play a fine game of basket- ball, keep up in his class, and act as Senior Class President. Some of us might forget what a Brain or Athlete he was, but none will ever forget his wonderful sense of humor, his ready smile, his mile-wide heart, and his willingness to pitch in no matter what the task. Missions, Basketball, President Senior Class. This distinguished class- mate, affectionately referred to by her friends as Lucille, is the personifieation of that adage, 'imighty oaks from little aeorns grow . For though Lucille is small in stature, there is an atmos- phere of magnanimity about her, and her host of friends is large. She approaches studies, as every difiicult task, with a zest, and there is no time in her program for contempla- tion of defeat. Lucille's source of energy and peerless cheer- fulness was a mystery to all. A good student, a smooth dancer, and a must in every activity, Mary proved invaluable in any gathering. Those of us who knew her will remember her for her ability to get along with the gang and the tenacious determination with which she stuck to anything she undertook. LOUISE MARY TANNER SAINT GABRIEL7S During her years at Saint Gabriel's, Louise easily found that evasive formula to a no strain existence. We've all heard her views on academics --4'Commendable as a diver- sion, but to be taken up or dropped at will . Congenial and modest, Louise gets along with anyone who isn't defi- nitely cut out to be a hermit. We'd like to get onto her system, it points to success and happiness in the years to come. She is short, and as is the case with many people short of stature, she is packed full of determination and get up and go. Hard working and conscientious, Marie found time to star in academics, as well as to par- ticipate in social activities. Her classmates will always remember her as the woman with the right answer.
