i'.l.? r 8 in W'hite Plains. A visitor to the United States noting the hustle and hustle of our daily lives might think that we Americans never take time to pray. They would be wrong. however, for prayer is so incorporated into our everyday actions that it has become a familiar routine. Busy students pause a few moments before every class to bless themselves and ask God s help in their work. Lunchtime finds many Ga- brielites praying the rosary in the Church, or at meditation with Father Raftery in St. Anthony's Chapel. The whispered sounds of Bless us, O Lord, are softly murmured by seniors and fresh- men alike before their noontime meal. By starting each class with a prayer, our students cast a re- ligious atmosphere over the most secular studies. Nor does a Gabrielite stop here. lCxtra-curricu- lar activities also reflect a subconscious familiarity with the life of the spirit. Despite their diligent practices, the basketball varsity put final hope of victory in Our Blessed Mother when they re- cite the Memorare before every game. The statue of the Queen of Peace traditionally stands among the gleaming decorations of every Prom, a silent reminder to all present of the modesty and beauty of Mary. These practices, so thoroughly ingrained in all our students, will help us as we progress through the difficulties of life. V. Van Noy and J. Dedicated to the Blessed Mother, Our Lady's Committee exemplifies the real aims of the Sodality. As chairman, Ann Chisholm draws up the round plan by which Sodalists live out tieir motto, Ad Jesu per Mariamf' P. Miller, Sodality cu board girl, assists A. Chisholm, committee head, in ticgfing up the Sodality's necessary possessions. Before I close this discourse, I want to leave you with this thought . . .
