Languages: A Taste of the Exotic Languages are often difficult to learn because they are dynamic. The same can be said for the members of the foreign language department at St. Francis, now all male. Besides a superb foreign studies prog- ram, the language and culture of France, Germany, Russia, and ancient Rome can be studied. Often included in the course outlines are audiofvisual presentations, and even an occasional bowling or mixology lesson. The perpet- rators in this field are Fr. joseph Baraniewicz, Br. Richard Eberle, Mr. juergen row, Fr. Dave Whalen, Fr. Forti, and Fr. Ll. Sottek. 29

A journey into Days of Future Past lf we accept the notion of man's existence as a social being, then the role of Social Studies becomes strikingly ap- parent. Rather than a drilling of each social concept, a stu- dent at St. Francis receives an overview - a look into the past, social experiences in the present, and an occasional glance into the future. We are no longer held captive by vol- uminous texts, but rather are more concerned with expand- ing our outlook. The St. Fran- cis community is fortunate to have such diverse members as Fr. Nicholas Koelzer, Mr. Don Kober, Mr. jim Robinson, Mr. Paul johnson and Mr. lon Wozniak to provide guidance through the indistinct path- ways of time.
