Annually he grants an interview to the Central Council of the Sodality of Our Lady of Mercy. At this time plans and projects of the year are sub- mitted to him for approval. On alternate years, His Excellency presides at the com- mencement exercises in June, presenting di- plomas to the graduates. ',,.1-Q 41'- 'ex Q., Ji ' One of Saint Xavit-r's eminent alumnae, Mother Mary Catherine, R.S.M., Mother Provincial, acts in an ad- visory as well as in a directive capacity. Mother served several years on the faculty of Tyler School, was superior and principal at Saint Edward parish, Pawtucket, and at Saint Mary parish, Newport. She was appointed as superior and librarian of Salve Regina College from 1947-1951, when she was chosen Mother Assistant Pro- vincial. She retained this office until her appointment as Mother Provincial in 1954. Mother Mary Antonine, R.S.M., as Mother Assistant Provincial, is also a member of the advisory board. Mother has heen a member of the Provincial Council since 1954. During this time she also served as acting dean of Salve Regina College in 1956 and 1957 until the appointment of Sister Mary Rosalia, present dean of the college. Sister Mary' Pierre, R.S.M., is presently superior of Saint Francis Xavier Convent, to which she was appointed in August, 1956. Sister was formerly principal of Mercy- mcunt Country Day School, Manville, in the first years of its establishment. Later she was transferred to Saint Mary parish, Bristol. where she was superior of the convent and principal of the school.
