'Hx' xi, The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, a short distance from Saint Xavier's, affords a quiet place of prayer for Xavierites. Many of the girls also attend daily mass here. in the beauty and dignity 0 P R 0 VI D E N CI E ocated in the northeastern part of Rhode Island, Provi' dence is its capital and lwriiicipal city. lt is one of thc pic' turesque and historical sites of New England. The State House has the second largest marhle dome in the world, and is considered one of the most beautiful huildings in the counf try. Providence is an industrial city, the center of jewelry manufacturing. Numerous educational facilities include a splendid public library. Saint Xavier's is its oldest Catholic high school. La Salle Academy. staffed by the Christian Brothers, is the largest parochial boys school in the State of Rhode Island. Its high academic standards are well-known to all of us here. We rcjoice Two enthusiastic Xavierites in a visit to the State Capitol admire the beauty of its architecture, particularly of the central dome. Sister planned llll evening during Catholic Education Week in Novemher when a panel of faculty members spoke to a capacity audience of parents, who met the teachers inforf mally later in classrooms, and closed the evening with refreshments. As head of the guidance department, Sister Ivfary Marjorie has planned a complete guidance prograin, eounseling, and placement service. She has obtained certitif cation for her guidance personnel.
