It is one of the picturesque and historical cities of New England, where some of the oldest residences housed French troops during the Revoluf tion. Our State House, located on Smith Hill, has the second largest marhle dome in the world, and is considered one of the most beautiful in the country. Providence, however, is chiefly an industrial city. being the center of jewelry manufacturing. During the recent hurrif cane, the industrial and husiness districts suffered great losses hecause of their precarious location. Numerous educational facilities include a new public library. Saint Xaviers is its oldest Catholic high school. 'ig . This section of our book not only presents them to you as members of a given student body, it adds something more. We have tried to picture them in many aspects of a Catholic young woman's life. Saint Xavier's senior is prayerful. She is helpful at home. She knows how to shop, to cook, to sew, to do housework. Out- door and indoor recreation helps to fill her leisure time. No juvenile delinquent, she, and the reasons are pictured here. Our seniors' lives are in happy accord with God's law. They love Him and their relatives, friends, and associates as He wishes. They do their daily duty prayerfully. Their hearts are in the right place, these seniors of the Class of 1955.
