5 I 1 I T is with whole-hearted pride in the academic prowess of our Alma Mater, that we present this, the 1945 edition of the XAVIER. The publication of any volume is indeed a feat in these days of wartime shortages. In other years, the XAVIER has offered a com- plete summary of school activities and traditions. This year, though We are seemingly hampered in our efforts by a limited number of pages. yet we are prouder than ever of our work, effected under trying handicaps. But though this XAVIER be small in size, we have attempted to substitute quality for quan- tity. All the happy events of our four years at St. Xavier's it is impossible to recordg so we have included here only the high- lights. We wish this. the twenty-ninth volume of the XAVIER to be an expression of our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to our beloved Bishop, for his gracious leadership: to our parents. for their infinite understanding, and the sacrihces they have made to send us to Rhode Island's finest Academyg to our teachers. who have been so patient and diligent in training us: and to all our friends. who have helped us in any way to make our four- year sojourn here a happy and successful one.
