FOREWORD With the banners of “Truth” flying high, we, the Class of 1940, have chosen our class motto, “The Truth shall make you free,” as a theme for the twenty-fourth edition of The Xavier. At the outset, we sincerely hope that our Annual will effect the true pur- pose for which it was compiled: to store happy high school memories for ourselves; to be a source of information for our parents, bene- factors, and friends; and to remind us of our mission to disseminate the truth of Christ to those whom we meet on the journey from earth to Heaven. If The XAVIER can but be a stimulus to urge us on to the splendid things we can accomplish as Catholic Action- ists. the work of the editors and of those who so generously co-operated with them shall not have been in vain. —Margaret Howell, Editor.
