Ex - -tx. ' 2 ri 1 I, S'- ZS ' Hct Ill Hfter two months the curtain rose again to find the Freshmen of '45 the Iuniors of '47, Ht last we were upper classmen. This year we had intricate and varied parts to play, We were: Sen- ators, listening to Cicero's magnificent speeches, Chemists strug- gling to work out formulaeg Frenchmen speaking the oddest French ever heardg and, lest l forget, we were mathematicians, following in the footsteps of Euclid, lt was a dream of every girl to play the loving Phoebe or the pathetic Elaine, Qs our Iunior year rolled to a close we had a feeling of being well prepared for our last and most memorable part-Seniors! Hct IV The Grand Finale was as is expected the most spectacular of all acts. Even the pangs of intermediate algebra and the con- stant dueling with physics did not mar the picture, lt had many, never-to-be-forgotten scenes. Our Senior rings were presented to us at the Hallowe'en Party and the play which was given by the preceding class still touches the funny-bone of our memory. Hnd then in the midst of all our memories the glorious thoughts of our Senior Prom loom up glistening and sterling. The Senior Luncheon and the Saint Patricks Day Party are all interwoven into this beauteous pattern which was our Senior year. Finally, the long-awaited day arrives and We find ourselves standing on the stage of the Plcademy, roses in hand, trying desperately not to trip over our filmy white dress. Our commencement has arrived to find us a little unwilling to leave our Hlma Mater by whom we have been sheltered for four short years. Patricia McDonough '49 Dorothy Tribby '49

STHRRING: CLQSS or IUNTE, 1949 Directed by: SISTERS or SHINT JOSEPH Produced by: oUR LHDY oF MFINKINDH Hct l The curtain rises. The stage is set for Hct One. The sun is shining upon eighty new Xavierites starting their first of four wonderful years. The performance is a difficult but happy one. The Freshmen played their parts like real troupers. Hbly sup- ported by the kind Sisters we dived into our studies, Latin be- wildered usg Biology entranced usg Flllgebra completely confused us. There were many happy scenes in this our first starring role, Our hazing gave us a great thrill. Christmas was glorious and we envied the Senior choir girls singing to the patients in the hospital. Would we ever reach the senior year? Before we realized it summer had approached and we closed our books as the curtain descended on our first steps to stardom. Hct ll Sophomores-Now, the curtain rises on the second act to reveal the same group, slightly older, trudging across the hills of Rome trying in vain to follow Caesar. ln a spirit of sheer desperation, with Caesar nowhere to be found, we turned to Euclid for solace. Needless to say, Geometry just didn't seem to be the proper antidote for a Gallic War. French also raised its lofty head for the first time only to lower it again when les jeunes filles started to decapitate it, But from all of these battles the Sophomores emerged victorious and made their graceful flight like newly-born butterflies into the Iunior year. if .1 fe 4 I Ig I 1- 4 0 + lb .fix N56 l '90 - 1 7 I 'Q Y f 4 ,allig- lJ l RN, 4 .'3,..1:1dz. .7 Z 'fi L H xr t 2 i t f Q
