K N x 'x K X , n echo from Um' Laffy If Our Lady of the Assumption were to write a letter of thanks for your having dedicated the Troubadour to her under that title, it might run something like this: My dearest daughters, There is a new and lovely jewel in my crown now. It is alive with the beauty of your bodies and souls which you have rededicated to me. Of all of heaven's lovely things it is among the loveliest because of your goodness 1Each day I pray for that day when you can see it for yourselfj and I want you to know, really know, that its beauty is from you, that in all the world there are few things more beautifulg that the color of your hair, the shape of your bodies, your smiles, your hands- they are only the media through which the divine beauty in your souls is communicated to the world. If you lose that divine beauty, the beauty that remains is drab indeed, and the mother of ugliness. And so may my Son bless you forever with goodness. Your Lady of the Assumption Father J. J. Sister M. Consolata Principal Spanish I Geometry Algebra General Science Dear Little Franciscans, This is a title you have chosen for yourselves and I have found joy in it. What does it imply? To the faculty at St. Francis it speaks of an ideal you have captured in this Franciscan atmosphere-an ideal to be cherished and to be lived. It is an ideal which should make you doers or active members of the Mystical Body. To be a true follower of Francis, says Father Foley, D.M.Cap., you seek to be real, to be good, and to be Cbristlike. There is no room for sham, pretense, or half measures in the followers of Francis. Are you real? According to the Seraphic Saint A man is no more or less that what he is before God. How do you measure up to this? The answer is the real you. Are you good? Goodness implies a generosity which finds its source in love-love for Christ. It is a kindliness of heart and a willingness to serve God and man. Are you Chriftlike? Does the world see Christ in you? Remember that the Christ of Francis was the humble Savior of men who emptied Himself and took on the form of a servant. Are you big enough to attain sanctity in the Franciscan way in whatever state of life you choose? God made this only you first for Himself, then for yourself and finally that you may be of service to others. Since you are the only you no one can do your work but you and so, I dare you to be Catholicg I dare you to be Franciscan-real, good, and Christlike. I shall pray no day shall pass without some effort to add to the likeness of Christ on the canvas of your souls. May the Lord bless and keep you near and dear! . ' 4 - ,wo Qi.-Q-if Java Q saaa
