VIA vendors. No man who knows the true value of God's good creatures waters his own wine, and so you will look in vain throughout these pages for any criticism of the VIA. But then, we might counter that in vino there is still veritas. We must tell the truth. The mosr cheerful, talented, likeable, and industrious students work on the VIA. This entire book is apparent testimony of the caliber of their work. The staff, under the imaginative leader- ship of Ed Beutner, has prodded pages into artistic composition, and has worked carefully for me appropriate footline which adds the proper touch to a picture skillfully taken. In years yet unborn, students will reach for this book and re-livc memories which will come quickly to life again because they have been so skillfully presented by the staff members of the VIA, to whom we accord all deserved honor. 71w ma Wed The more talented penmen of the school unite each scholastic year to produce the school paper, THE PENMAN. Their task is a. bit like that of a weekly news magazine or like that of mother the days after Thanksgiving: to present the old as new. Even though they are put to the dis- advantage of informing us about what we already know, these gentlemen do an admirable piece of work. This is best demon- strated by enthusiasm with which the paper is scrutinized upon its monthly appearance. Sometimes they even manage to spring a surprise announcement, just to keep us on our toes. Father Leo Seramufs deft hand is on the pen, to remove the lapsae, to suggest the proper phrase, to keep every- thing up to the standard which has won the PENMAN its nu- merous scholastic newspaper awards.
