History to getting a child to take his medicine. Remember Wee School and Miss Kaminski? Spring Hew and sunburned faces entered the scene. Cooling off in the sum- mer heat was a comfort known to only the learned. Remember Susan and her mattress? . . . Cynthia hanging crepe paper at 1 a.m.? That summer brought late leaves, ten day stretches and a farewell to many of our friends. However, the two months soared by and September brought new experiences. Our big sisters graduated and we acquired new rooms with sinks. The Freshmen arrived and our egos soaredeLittle Sisters . . . two stripes . . . Seniors, at last! Classes resumed amidst the fun of orienting the Frosh to Saint Francis. iiAn elephant in September, remembers? Contaminated or not-that was the question in the OR. Remember Lorrie,s umbilicus? Care studies gave us a look at private duty nursing . . . Orthopedics, Dr. Thurm, and the student versus the Hoyer lift . . . Isolation brought the promise of beautiful hands for the weekend. We welcomed new rotations as we brought in the New Year. Sister Clare Jerome, with a guiding hand and sometimes a necessary push, helped us through our Emergency Room experience. In the clinic we were introduced to a different type of nursing. Remember the farewell party for Dr. Prischa? Diet Therapy and sixth floor . . . salt or not-what a dilemma! Third North proved to be one of the most unpredictable floors in the hospital. The experience we gained here could never be measured. Easter vacation arrived and we marched off to New York on our Class Trip. Mama Leoneis could never survive on our tips. The rotation ended and we began the eighth quarterethe last lap. The thought made many of us tremble . . . Will we be ready to graduate by September? T.E.N.-what a switch! Now we were working nights and sleeping days. Suddenly our clumsiness became more noticeable as we tripped over overbed tables and bumped into beds! Remember Betty,s blanket on the window . . . 2 am. conferences . . . iiHey, Studenti, . . . classes at 8 am. on Mondays? Onward we marched through spring. Class rings were one of the high- lights of the season. Seminars reminded us of how much we had forgotten. Senior pictures . . . May Crowning . . . Retreat . . . Student-Faculty Picnic . . . Dinner Dance . . . The time Hew by so quickly. We polished up our nursing care and perfected the skills we had learned so long ago. As graduation ap- proached we realized that our years at Saint Francis could never be recaptured. Goodbyes were exchanged as we packed our suitcases and gave our rooms one Enal look. All that remains is memories. 59
