We have memories of the games, the dances, and the big events of high school. We recall the good laughs, the cafeteria food, our ex- cuses for being tardy, and all the advice we were ,given and never used. Maybe we would like to forget the times we were caught for skipping class. It was a time for re- newing one's math. lt was a lot of work, but everyone seemed to enjoy the worthwhile day. Lyle was with us throughout our grade and high school years His senior year was a life of suffering. Lyle died one week after our graduation, May 23, 1971. v -f' Although he is not with us he is in our hearts. He was a part of us--even though illness held us apart. After three weeks of his senior year, he left us--illness demanded it. He was up-- he was down. When he was able he attended our games. When he was unable we knew he was suffering --a long stark illness --death staring him in the face. He revolted--he had determination--he had great ambition --he wanted to be with his friends. --he wanted to return to school. --he wanted to participate in sporis. AND NOW The comedian of the class of 71 is gone. In his illness he kept smiling. In his illness he made many friends--bringing one closer to God. A honorary diploma he received on his deathbed. on the afternoon of our commencement day. That night he was with us in spirit --a vacancy was in our hearts.
