The 1978 Lancer Frosh experienced one of the best seasons in recent St. Francis his- tory. The team, under the excellent coaching of Barry lvers, Chuck Pearlman, and newcomer john Komo, posted a record of 6 wins and 1 loss. The Frosh were devas- tating in league play where they captured first place with a record of 5 wins and 1 loss. They were the first freshman team to win the championship in five years here at St. Francis. jg? X In post-season honors, the team picked jim Hanley to be the Most Valuable Player, Mike Pope was the Most Valuable Offensive Player, and Kevin O'Brien was the Most Valuable Defensive Player. Steve McCaIlion was honored with being the Most lm- proved Offensive Player, and Sal Ganzon was the Most Improved Defensive Player. Overall, the season was marked with outstanding play and determination on the part of all the players. As Mr. Ivers put it, It was a Super season! Mark Locatelli shows his form on a Lancer punt.
