His personal interest in the boys on his team led the sport writers of the Fmnralian to pay him the following tribute: Ev is like Knute Rockne- he is more interested in developing men who play football than in developing football players. The rugged determin- ation of the team to stick together and play the season out - win or l0se- is proof of the success Ev had with his foot- ball players. Editor Qipilugue The story of the Pageant of Youth at St. Francis de Sales is now ended. It is a story that sings of our school life in 1953. The song is over, but the melody of our God-given principles imparted to us by the priests and Sisters of St. joseph will linger on forever in the life that lies ahead. Through the years, as we gaze back on this pageant of 1953, there are certain names connected with the publication of this annual that we wish enshrined in our grateful memo- ries, hence, we shall record them for posterity. Monsignor Smith, our pastor and friend, who gave us sup- port in all our projects. Mother Thomasine, our principal, who always gave us per- mission, just this once, to take our material to Hirschfeld's. Fr. Robert Kekeisen, journalism teacher, who kept us happy by constantly telling us we would have the annual out on time. Andy Martelon, of the Hirschfeld Press, who stayed on our side and calmed us when some of our fellow classmates began to wonder if the annual would be underneath their Christmas trees. Caeser Morganti, Warren Turilli and joseph Bianci, who never complained when they had to work overtime to take the pictures we forgot. Dennis Donnelly and his powder blue car that always had enough gas to take our rushes. Finally, with grateful thanks to all members of the faculty and the student body who supported us in every way, we repeat our theme from the Medieval Ages-FORWARD FRAN- SALIANS! GOD WILLS IT!
