Saint 724nm; Cailege 3iddefozd, mafia 04005 OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT June 23, 1972 On behalf of the Saint Francis College community, I congratulate the members of the Class of 1972. Your years at Saint Francis were coincident in time with four years of turmoil and unrest in American society. You have challenged the values of the broad society concerning war, civil rights, poverty, environmental pollution, etc. - To some extent, at least, your challenge has been success- ful in awakening the American conscience. But problems of yesteryear remain, and the post is now your legacy. How will you, in turn, respond to the challenges? Will you prove your- selves to be liberated? Will you respond free of irrationality, preiudice, and pure self interest? Will you give of yourselves openly - perhaps completely - toward the resolution of human problems? We are anxious about your responses, for the measure in which you respond, individually and collectively, will be one measure of success achieved in the task that brought us together on this campus. Thus we wish you well. We pray that the influence of Saint Francis, the person and the institution, sustains you in the important work that lies ahead. May your lives be both happy and profitable. Cordial iy, Ernest R. Therrien Acting President
