U. N. E. LIBRARY j: BIDDEFORD, ME ng: a W: Editofs M essage Rev. Oscar Giroux, OFM. A Catholic mind is one illuminated by the light of Christ. The customary development, maturity and knowledge received at a Catholic college must be quickened by the Lord's presence into such a mind. This does not come about merely because a college is called Catholic, but through the educators who are Christlike. We recognize how constant Fr. Oscar Giroux has been in reflecting the light of Christ in our minds and therefore, we offer in dedication to him this first MOTUS. Fr. Oscar has crossed and recrossed our fields of vision during the past tour years as dean of men. teacher, and friend. Only we who know him can appreciate the efforts he has made. He has incarnated the Christian ideals so successfully that in future years, although his works and words will never fade completely from our minds, we will never be able to forget the man him- self. Here, the humanities are blended with the sciences so as to build the foun- dation of a well-rounded individual. Through the influence of the Franciscan Friars and the lay teachers, the collegian is molded so that he may be a better Catholic citi- zen and prepared to meet the challenge of today's modern society. Most of the time-keeping and score-keeping was done by Daniel Keohane and Richard Newman, and occasionallly by Michael Pou- lin. Many were called upon to referee. Those who were more frequently called to task are: Henry Rojas, Raymond Ouellette, Edward Bonville, Fulton Ryan, Alfred Berard, Ernest Pelletfer, William Magee, Ar- , thur Wilson, Robert Gabler and Michael Pelletier. To 9 all these, to many others who helped in less conspic- E uous ways, to the players themselves for their interest, t energy and good sportsmanship, Iwish to express my appreciation. The season was long; we played thirty- eight games. It was interesting and it certainly added something to the campus life. General Manager Fr. George Marcil, O.F.M. Norm Pellerin gets the tip.
