A group 0f renowned writerJ, poem, journalietx, and actor: came to the College to diteun their live:, their work, and, 0f courxe, Brooklyn. ' The Cosby Show actor Geoffret Owem, Fox Channel 5 reporter Roxanna Seotto, and novelist: Hilma Wolitzer and jmeph MeElroy were among the Brooklyn notable: who participated. The symposium included lemon: on fiction and poetry, journalism and mm-fietion, and film and drama. In conjunction with thiJ lympoxium, the College .rpomared a Brooklyn High Sehool Senior Writing Context, to encourage the next generation of Brooklyn literary giantx. The .rtudentt wrote ethout what make: Brooklyn :0 .rpecial to them. judge: were Gail Lumet t Buckley, a participant in Brooklyn Accents; Pat Smith, Brooklyn Burma Chiefof the New York Poet; and Dr. Rohert Fox, Englixh profeuor at the College. The winner; read their emays at the opening ceremony of the :ympoxium. e Participants in the panel on fietion and poetry were: Norman Roxten, poet ldureette of Brooklyn; joseph MeElroy, etuthor of The ' Silver, and In the Flesh; Charter Lynch, poet and novelist; and Shelly Reuben, author of Julian Solo.
