A group 0f renowned writerJ, poem, journalietx, and actor: came to the College to diteun their live:, their work, and, 0f courxe, Brooklyn. ' The Cosby Show actor Geoffret Owem, Fox Channel 5 reporter Roxanna Seotto, and novelist: Hilma Wolitzer and jmeph MeElroy were among the Brooklyn notable: who participated. The symposium included lemon: on fiction and poetry, journalism and mm-fietion, and film and drama. In conjunction with thiJ lympoxium, the College .rpomared a Brooklyn High Sehool Senior Writing Context, to encourage the next generation of Brooklyn literary giantx. An Amerlcan Dream Running Your .Own Busmess Breakfast Seminars St. Francis College 13 14 Malcolm Forbes, chairman and editor in chief of Forbes magazine, spoke to a standing room only crowd in Founders Hall February 14, 1989. Forbes gave the opening lecture of a five-part series of breakfast seminars exploring all aspects of operating a successful business. The series, entitled An American Dream: Running Your Own Business, was sponsored by the College and the Downtown Brooklyn Development Association. The other seminars focus on starting up and financing, marketing, new opportunities in downtown Brooklyn, and successful Brooklyn entrepreneurs.
