Although the years are packed with early morning classes, reports, week long study sessions and killer tests they are also full of great memories. The 1988 Franciscan is designed to help you share those memories right now with friends and family and recall the same memories when you are sending your children off to St. Francis. I know that I would tell my children that I'm proud to be a St. Francis graduate and even prouder to have been the editor of the 1988 Franciscan. As you look through this pictorial of college life and people think about all the hard work and dedication that went into putting it together. Be proud of iti The entire Franciscan staff is. Thank you Mare for helping me through those long nights before major deadlines. I couldn't have done without you. To Dorn- we had our differences but survived. Thanks for putting up with me. You take a great picture. Anthony, thanks for the last minute photos. Yoli, thanks for all your errand running and message taking. Marie, you've missed your calling, become a pica counter. Thank for all your help with gathering ads. To Tony-Your a great ad-getter. Thanks for all the help. Thank you Ron Valdes for the great art work on pages 8, 67 and 161. Thank you Tom Kehoe from Taylor Publishing who taught me much, if not everything I needed to know about putting together a yearbook. In many cases, there are no presents to open, no joys to share. But through a program called Project Angel Tree, Prison Fellowship helps make Christmas come alive for the children of prisoners. Much more than a program to provide gifts for needy kids, it is a clear expression of genuine Christian love. For the first time at St. Francis College the Christian Club was the proud sponsor of this program. THAT WAS THEN • • • THIS IS NOW Dominick DiLillo is a Management major at S.F.C. Love, Elizabeth Dear Marie and Noel, Hope your years together are as great as the years I’ve spent with Marie. Love, Liz Dear Dom, I would have written you a booster but ... just kidding. Thanks for all the good times and the bad (you didn’t think I’d forget those.) Remembering what you once said — Good friends are hard to find and even harder to lose. Let’s not lose touch. Love Ya, Liz Dear Marie, Who would ever believe that first day in history class would lead to vacations in Florida, Scruffy Studs, Leftover Sal Clubs, name that tune, looking marvelous, jumping off your porch, considering things just for fun, finding out what “real men” are, checking out Christmas trees in Staten Island, men in leopard skin pants, Mr. Bill, U2 concerts, under the Board Walk with John Cougar, two wild Americans in Ireland — and the list goes on. I never knew college would be so much fun. But then it wouldn’t have been fun without you. I’m glad we’re friends. Love Ya, E(Liz)abeth 174 To Lizzy, Through all the copulating green monkies, flirtatious remarks to men, stud clubs, scruffy clubs, anorexic clubs, leftover clubs, through all the rug burned knees I’ve encountered in hotel rooms, through analyzing “There’s no help for her, she’s really ugly” — through all the mickies, the arguments with “The Gang,” no names mentioned — all the Polish dates when we were the only ones who understood English in a night club, through all those certain Irish men — who I told you not to bother with anyway — through all the “Hardy” boys, all the U2 concerts — all the food I stuffed down my dress, all the times I dirty danced, through all the sex education classes I got and you proved me wrong, through all the mickies and Bronco’s that have come and gone — there’s one thing we still have — EACH OTHER — let’s keep it like that. (Forget about the cowboys, leave them for my mother.) Thanks for being my friend. Love Ya, Marie (Mare) Dear Mom (Hayes), These last years with you have been the best of my life. We have a closeness that almost seems impossible. I just want to say thanks for all the love and support and pep talks you gave me. It has all paid off, finally. Through all the times I told you “Ma, I’m quitting school” you always put me on the right track again. Your words are worth the time it takes me, listening to those long speeches. If I could I would put your name right next to mine on the diploma for you deserve it just as much as I do. You’re my pal, my best friend, and my buddy. Even if you bargain hunt all the time and I hate going shopping with you because you always tell the workers there to save it for their wives when the prices were too high. You’re irreplaceable. As far as I’m concerned, I’ll always be under the wing and like it like that. I Love You, Mom.
