The second bus route covering the Baldwin Manor, Pleasant l-lills, Brent- wood, Carriclc and Overbroolc sections ends at nine each day. We certainly learned punctuality by trying to malce the morning bus. 'on t the 13,'tG , ot tbe te ere taugb l f - men l ales 3, S d b c c tlt A A. 404 aan Noi game l til Basketball varsity composed ot out tanding player in each class The senior team kneeling to the left of Mrs Stoesser won the School Championship the third consecutive year Samoa Sheng With the close ol the Vollefball season came our second maior sport Basketball New Basketball guards were purchased in December and installed and new rules were introduced Qnce again intra class competition was the rule until varsity teams were created Class varsity teams competed with each other and it was V for victory lor the Senior Class lor the third consecutive year lhe Senior Varsity played the Freshmen Varsity and the Final score was 31 to l4 'llpanaleonung With the opening ol the new school comes the addition ol a new gym class the seventh and eighth grades combined. Mrs. K. Stoesser takes time out to explain toss-up before re- suming the basketball game. Mrs. Stoesser is an active proponent ol the theory that participation in sports by all lor enioyment is a lar worthier aim than the exhibition ol a few lor school lame. It was Tuesday April 'l4 that the Senior Varsity by special invitation played Mt Assisi in Bellevue The Seniors accompanied the team which played but lost the game to the lightning play ol their opponents Lost the score is the vigorously correct expression lor the game to S FA students meant an exhibition ol good sportsmanship, and in this both teams can win Three cheers lor the Seniorsl Listening to directions from Mrs K Stoesser aura ucv P9 PfT w' - H09 A re Sodolity otlicers aclmi Why o Soclolity? Because we feel the need ot honoring Qur Lady publicly, because this organization allords room lor spiritual and social growth, and because we lcnow that in united intelligent zealous ellort, we can achieve the goal ol Catholic Action, we have the Sodality. Who are its officers? The 1941-42 ohlicers ol the Sodality were Marie Moritz, prefect, Virginia Zetwo, lirst vice-prefect, Carol Marsin, second vice-prefect, Clare l-lolden, secretary, and l.ouise Mullen, treasurer. The Com- mittee chairmen appointed at the ,lune meeting were as lollows: lrene Dailyda, Eucharistic Committee, Ruth Schreclc, Qur l.ady's Committee, Mary A. petgen, Apostolic Committee, gloan Cyphers, Catholic Truth Committee, Marita Showalter, publicity Committee, Ethel pollcabla, Cooperative Committee, Mary M. Crowley, Social Lite Committee, Dolores Patterson, Third Qrder. Spiritual Action At each meeting short informal tall4s emphasizing forthcoming Feast days and urging some particular devotion were given. A decade ol the Rosary was recited by most members during the month ol Qctober. A lriduum to the l'loly Father lor Christmas was made. Scapular Medals were sent to boys in camp. New just before the mission bake sale '70 Jlanaa 0m .Ba members were received into the Sodality in a chapel ceremony December 5, 1941. lhe May Crowning talres place May 24. intellectual Activities A Catholic boolc iaclcet contest was sponsored by the Sodality in Qctober as a means of arousing interest in Catholic literature. As a special contri- bution to the school, the Sodality in November do- nated a one-year subscription to the Catholic Boolc Club to the Academy library. Charitable Activities A drive tor old clothes and canned goods to be donated to Brother Matthew ol the l-louse ol l-los- pitality, South Side, was very successful. Six boxes ol clean and well-preserved clothing and three boxes of canned goods were sent to assist the worthy brother in his splendid worlc.
