Rev joseph V. Skripkus Rev. Norbert Miller OUR ANNUAL RETREAT Days of Prayer Two days of silence and prayer were spent by the girls at the annual retreat. 'I'hursday and Friday, February 1 and 2, under the sympathetic and able guidance of the Reverend Norbert Miller. 0.M.Cap., of St. Francis Friary. The long file of girls in dark blue uniforms moving slowly down the aisle during these two days was a most edifying sight. 'l'ime between conferences and spiritual exercises was employed profitably in spiritual reading. Memorable Incident .-X never-tc1-be-forgotten incident for the Sen- iors will be their lunching in the library with the exceptional privilege of tuning in on the radio at noon. when the girls had almost forgot- ten the sound of one. From the straight-forward interesting manner of his speeches. Father has left particularly one thought- Christ is always in the chapel waiting and hoping for our visits to Him. no matter how brief they may be. Chapel Periods A Friday morning chapel period has become the weekly ritual of the Academy girls, Each week prayers in keeping witll the Liturgical sea- son are recited and an appropriate hymn is sung. One ol the pleasantest memories of the S.F..X. stu- dents will be the informal Visits paid to the chapel sometimes before and sometimes after classes. The interruption of classes at the sound of the .Xngelus will be another treasured memory. ,V VK. REVEREND j0SEPH V. SKRIPKUS As Chaplain Rev. joseph Y. Skripkus has always shown the greatest interest in all the activities of the girls. He tnakes it a point to attend programs when- ever that is possible. On the occasion of the lformal Opening. it was Father -joseph who cele- brated Holy Nlass and exhorted the girls to dili- gence in study. He also celebrated Mass for the Holy' Souls, .Xll Souls Day, which the girls Ell- tended. and presided at the spiritual activities of Class Day. As Friend Father joe as he is familiarly known, is be- loved by the .Xcademy girls for his never failing cheerlulness and gentality. Un the Feast of St. Francis every year. it is his special pride and joy to treat the resident students to their Annual XVeiner Roast. On the occasion of his Feast Day, held .Xpril 2 this year, the S.F..X. Students, class by class. expressed their felicitations and pre- sented him with a bouquet of flowers in token of their appreciation.
