I ...... 4 4 - ---3'4 t ef 4 ...... .....1-4 ,T ............... 3-4 ' . .......... .4 , ' - ' ...3-4 ' , ' ' 4 ff - ................ 1-3 - .Q XUQZLTLCLCZ .57 QHQU QU2 .577 VZTOHLCQ .gy Qafvfaef CLASS HISTORY September 1935 found 53 freshman the largest class 1n the hxstory of S F A eager to attend hlghschool 1n the newly completed add1t1on to St Franc1s Academy Wlth the amd of Sxster M Veronlca we elected Larry John Helen and R1ta as class offxcers lmmedxately we Jomed 1n school act1v1t1es w1th 16 g1rls and 3 boys 1n Glee Clubs Our presentat1on of 'W1ldcat W1ll1es Lucky Number provlded entertamment for the carmval Desplte our best efforts to secure the throne for Mon1ca we were kept to a cool thxrd U1 the carnlval queen race W1th the commg of basketball season f1ve of our boys qual1f1ed for the B team and one for the A wh1le Sandy Monlca, and Lo1s served as very capable cheerleaders Rev Father Boyle led us 1n our fxrst retreat as xt was a new exper1ence for us we enjoyed lt to the utmost Although depleted mn number we began our sophomore year wlth a class role of 41 wh1ch 1ncluded newcomers Ray James, Sandra, Mary Ann, and Denn1s Once agam under the d1rect1on of Sxster M Veron1ca, we chose Larry Denn1s Monlca and Mary Ann as our leaders Hop1ng to secure the crown for our candxdate we selected Mary Ann but once agam came m thxrd W1th the amd of J1m, Paul and Rxchard who played on the A strmg the Frank1es took fourth Ln the tournements w1th Sandy and Loxs to cheer them on to vlctory Under the gu1dance of Father LeMay who conducted our annual retreat, we learned a b1t more about the patroness of youth, St Mar1a Gorettl We began our Jumor year wxth a completely mascul1ne staff Paul, S1mon Jxm and Denn1s Sxster M Veron1ca was agaxn our adv1sor S F A Chlmes whxch now appeared monthly 1n the Hank1nson News was ed1ted by Helen and Sandy Although we had the honor of sellmg the largest dollars worth of tu-kets for carmval queen, percentage w1se our large class number of 45 mcluomg newcomers Rosemary Phyll1s, Elame, Janet and Darlene won us only Znd place w1th Lo1s as our candxdate Along wxth the senlors we present ed the h1lar1ous comedy The L1ttle Dog Laughed , 1n the November of our Juruor year Sandy and Loxs once aga1.n were elected cheerleaders wh1le Jim Larry R1chard Allen, and Paul axded the basketball team 1n securmg 5rd 1n the tournements A very successful retreat conducted by Father Wye taught us a. b1t more about charlty the key to perfectlon Prom for '57 was a specta cular event as the Tempo Kxngs set the mood for our theme N1ght L1ghts The year 57 58 found 46 students 1n sen1or home room, 205 Newcomers to the class were Rosemary Mary Arm Dav1d and Annette W1th the guldance of Sxster M Franc1s we chose Jxm Cathy Larry and Helen to carry on our busmess for thxs very 1mportant year Sandy Helen and Jamce ed1ted the S F A Chimes V1ctor1ous at last the class saw thelr cand1date crowned Queen Mary ' 1n the carmval queen contest An alumnae of S F A Fath r Scheller conducted our f1nal retreat wh1ch prepared us Just a l1ttle more for the world we were about to meet After Chrlstmas seven of our classmates Mary Ann Barbara, Sandra Jo Ann, Elalne, Stella and Evelyn left the ranks to become postulants A v1ctor1ous basketball season found J1m, Paul Rlchard Larry and Allen helpmg the 'A' team to gam conference champ1onsh1p w1th a 15 1 record am1dst the cheers of Sandy Lo1s and Mon1ca In February we combmed our talents w1th the Jun1or class t0 present Love Is Eternal ', 3 C1V1l war drama w1th Barbara as Mary Todd and Charles as Abe Lmcoln We are now anxlously awa1t1ng the greatest event m any classes hlstory graduatxon I I 1 . . . , 1 1 1 . .
