Pep Squad ...... .... 1 -ls Memories ......... ..... 74 QE QQQQF Rose and Gray 'Er gf? if cz fz 6 fl' ffl Cl I7 auauaoon n a 1 0 ol-L Vice President.........2 Glee Club ..... ..... 2 Football.. ...3,h 0 0 o o c o 0 Memories ..... . ...lx N ...p J' av- f ' -qv -air Wm WML In the golden year of 197.19 we began our never to be forgotten highschool years as twenty seven ambitious freshmen seventeen day students, four candi dates, and six boarders Frances, Mary, Arlene, and Arthur were our officers Under the guidance of Sister M Cornelia we participated whole heartedly in act1vities Fourteen contributed to the glee clubs, five boys joined sports In the Carnival Queen contest we placed third w1th Mary as our candldate W were deeply moved by the conferences of the Rev Father Stoudt Moet of the class were received into the Sodallty of Our Lady of Mercy W1th great enthusiasm we started in the fall of 1950 The few vacant seats were filled by John S , James K , Ronald S , Teresa F , and Faye J W were now twenty eight sophomores Four boy officers Fred, Dennls, Me1v1n,and Arthur managed our business under the expert guidance of Rev Mother Irmtrudis A few were active on the Chzmas staff In the race for Carnlval Queen we again came in th:Lrd, with Faye as our princess-elect Five boys helped gain a troplw in the district tournament Through our added experience and the in In September 1951 we embarked on our junlor year Again we mlssed a few, but Jean K and Eleanor W jolned us Under the experienced direction of Sr Francis and the leadersh1p of Mary, Fred, Betty Lou,and Arlene,we courageous ly launched the year's projects Prom,the main event,was successfully carried out with the gay theme of 'Hawaiian Cruise , and the melodioue music of the Tempo Kings The comical nystery of Spoog Tavern brought to the foot lights the dramatic talents of Frances, Dennls, Ronald, Fred, and Julia Mary, Fran ces, Arlene, lblvin, James, and Ronald were contrlbutors to the Chimes Once more our efforts in the Carnival Queen contest missed the top, and our candi date Eleanor Walter placed third Mary represented us on the cheerleading floor We did our full share in the school's most successful basket ball sea son thru the prowess of Brinkman and Speiser, who played on the first strlng, and of Fred, James, and Melvln, ready on the sidelines Arthur, Ronald, and Denn1s were also out for football Frances was privileged to be delegate to the first Diocesan CIO Convention at Devils Lake Now we are happy to have her as our Sodality Prefect and aided by Mary and Arlene Father Breitenbeck led us during retreat in our quest for the Truths of the Sp1rit Though in September, 1952, we had dwindled to twenty three,we were proud to launch out as seniors under the guidance of Sister M. Dorothea Janice Bauch had joined us With Frances, Julia, Ihlv1n,and Fred as leaders we went on to plan our projects, swung the first school party,so1icited the very able direction of Sr M Francis for the junior senior play, Here Comes Charlie , where Dennis, Frances, Rita, and Arlene starred in major roles, fought a very thrilling campaign for the Carnival Queen and placed a very close second with Arlene Julia, Rita, and Eleanor set to work on Memories, and when it once began to take shape, all pitched in to meet the deadline Buddy, as captain, Kastner, Skroch, Peters, and Lewis made the first string in basketball, Ger man and Heley also played on the gridiron Very Rev Father C1.arus, GB, our retreatzmster, left us with mary inspiring thoughts for the future We feel greatly honored to have had with us Shirley, Alfreda, and Peggy, who through out our highschool days kept planning for the 'better part' and now left us to be postulants in the convent of St Francis o ' - 6 . .3 O O I C . I e spiring talks of Father Langfield were deeply impressed by our retreat. QZMQL WM We, the Senior Class of 1953, being still of sound mind and somewhat strained memory, do proclaim this to be our last will and testament To Rev Fr Smalley, Rev Fr Huebsch, and the Sisters, we give our best thanks and appreciation for their patience and guiding hand the sophomores we give our place of honor in the new part of the building the freshmen, we will our beauty, brains, ambitions and cooperativeness our worthy successors, the juniors, we bequeath as follows Eleanor wills her speed to Dean He can then type SO instead of S a minute Frances wills her stage talent to Germaine so that she can open Sonora Hall have all sorts of information at his fingertips Rita Nordick walls her place of honor in the dishwashing line to Barbara She can then keep a steady stream of dishes coming out next year Echo wills her height to Mary Ellen so that she can reach great ambitions John Ienz wills his dimples to Rita Kasowski Combined with hers, she'll have the most outstanding dimples in the country Janice Bauch wills her brains and Stl1d1Ol1Sl'l9S8 to Gerald Theede He should then be able to take the strain of two histories and problems next year Angela wills her laugh to Mary It'll make her to compete with Jerry Lewis Arthur leaves his mischief to George He'll be a vital problem then' Julia bequeathes her dancing ability to Charles Klimek With it he may get even as far as Broadway in the coming season Bud wills his athletic skill to Bob P so that he too may try out sports Betty Lou leaves her industry to Kennie so that he'l.l get his homework in Dennis wills his dramatic talent to Ray He'll use it at all talent shows Florence wills her springy walk to Frank so that he won't be so 'Pokey Ronnie leaves his wavy hair to Ethel This ought to eliminate her bobby pins Mary bequsathes her tricks :Ln missing tests to Jimmy Meide so that he will skip school onJ.y on the right days lblvin wills his quiet ways to Gerald This should slow him down somewhat Arlene wills her promptness to Chuck. He won't worry about excuses arvmore. Finally Fred bequeathes his freckles to Betty Garad. Combined with her ruddy complexion, they will eliminate the need of nmkeup Very economical! o To . ' ' . Flrst we behold Florence PeIL'Lman, the renowned hairdresser, known for her Flo's famous Feather Flop Then we see Tblvlh Peters retlrlng after the envlable record of having passed his only pupll to the second grade We now interrupt our program to bring you a singlng commercial,featu.r1ng John Lenz advocating his well known lens for correcting Lenzitls In this musical lnterlude we are also listenlng in to Ronn1e and Jnnnvs Jazzy Jamboree, which recently put Splke Jones out of business We are hearing a speech from Brother Freddie Lewis, who has been con verting gorillas , apes, and monkeys in the heart of Africa Turning again the dial, we are made to sympathize with Angie, who wrecked her thlrd Studebaker and is now riding a bike Mamie E1senhcwer's bangs found competition when Dennis Heley came out w1th his Heley's Hilarlous Halrdo ' Then we watch EleanoreWalter worklng hard :Ln L1118g8.1'd'8OffiC6 and hoping D1al1ng again, we admre Sergeant Arthur Germn in his 'swell' unifonn secretly hoping he will never have to fight the Germans We envy Mary Aker fulfilllng her ambition for modeling Lee overalls for the Federated Store and spendnng her spare t1IEB on Pbrry Acres And we cheer Echo Ambach busy managlng the 'Flat Footed Football Team and fmally endlng the season nth a grand total of no wins and twelve losses Then we giggle at Julia Bernard running a dancing school for males only We are watohlng R1ta Nord1ck campaignlng for the presmency of the Slsters of the Swlsh on the Wh1g Party We see Frances Relnke composlng M1.lky Time Melody, wh1ch 18 to be sung by her couszm Betty Lou Reinke to content her cows Then we are cheering Budchr Brlnkman, who became world famous by the new spectacular play of receiving his own passes We are hopelessly puzzled to observe Arlene Jarsk1 followmng Prof Elsen hopper's instructions :Ln perfectzmg her course in geometry, Arlene's Angles Last, but not least, we are thrilled by Janice Bauch's solo of 'The Cat Came Back' in the Greasy Spoon at Fl Paso, Texas has her Christmas bonus will be a nice, shim' '63 Buick. . . . , - n Wil?
