CLEXSD HVNTQRY In the fall of l9h7,fortv elght students started thelr hlstory of belng unlque in many flelds Th1s freshmen cla s, the largest 1n the hlstory of the Academy, had as members twenty four boarders,twenty one day students and three candldates They sllrted thlngs off rlght by elect1ng Irls, Curtls, Dolores C , and Mabel as class offlcers Good luck favored these Ngreen freshlesu for they were the f1rst class to engoy the prlvllege of not belng lnitlated Gladly they gave a party 1nstead,and sent the money they earned at lt and from thelr class dues to the needy 1n Europe Together w1th thls overseas charlty, they be gan to correspond w1th forelgn students Rosella DeBoever was chosen carnlval queen cand1date,and w1th the help of the entlre class, she managed to stay 1n thlrd place Sports also had a place 1n the freshmen plcture Wlth Father Smalley as ath let1c dlrector and E W Green as coach, the JHn1OT team went forward unt1l lt had won the tournaments Charles and Leslie, co captalns, accepted a f1rst place trophy on behalf of the team Retreat held a dellghtful surprlse for the freshmen as Father Howard Ralenkotter gave many wonderful conferences Through the help of thelr class advlsor, Slster Laurella, the freshmen were rewarded by belng named the best behaved class of the year As sophomores, the class of forty was agaln the largest answerlng roll call N1ne students left the1r ranks and one,Sally leyer, golned Retreat brought back the beloved Fr Ralenkotter Wlth Mr Hermes as coach, the football and basketball teams put ln an 8XClt1HF year of play The basketball team wound up the season w1th COHSOl8t1OH honors As carnlval queen candldate, Ir1s fought a hard battle to keep us agaln 1F flrst place Under the guldance of Sr Cornella, the class agaln tr1ed to do well, and at commencement lt felt proud of belng for the second t1me ranked as the best behaved class of the year In September, l9b9, the JUDIOPS w1th thlrty two members, agaln hlt the top as the largest class Newcomers were Joan B ,Joanne B and Margaret Deck For thls eventful year,the class offlces were entrusted to Howard, Ramona, Rose,and Dolores C From the JUHIOP class,Charles, Theresa L , Howard, Irls, and Pat P were chosen actlve members of the newly organlzed student Councll As 1n former years, they were agaln prlvlleged to have Father Smalley as dlrector, and or Irmtrudls as a moderator of the Sodal1ty Howard, Ramona, Theresa L , and Charles became 1ts officers Actlve on the COmm1tt96S were Dolores C , Joan, and Mabel In the f1eld of sports, w1th Coach Green as gulde, the Frankles successfully completed eventful seasons of football and bas ketball Wlth prom as thelr main goal, the JUD1OTS went forward w1th plans for lunche , partles, a play, and bake sales to flnance thelr progect The gunlor senlor class play, UHer Honor the Nayor,u brought to llght fsw kg , I -J 0 D 4 . v o S , l . . .
