Over 1,000 spectators, priests, sis- ters, parents, and friends witnessed the impressive ceremony of the breaking of grounds for the new St. Florian Education Center. This ceremony was performed by our pastor, Father Walkowiak on the 22nd of July, 1952. The corner stone was solemnly blessed by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Francis Pokriefka on Nov. 11th, 1951. Witnesses of this memorable scene were Congressman Thaddeus Mac hrowicz , Stephen Skrzycki, Mayor of Hamtramck, civic leaders, as well as throngs of parishioners and friends from neighboring parishes. September, 1952, w-ill mark the official opening of the city's most extensive and ultra-modern project. 's
