The members of the board have done a very fine job in helping make our unit system a success. The unit system of the St. Elmo Community has been in existence two years, having been organized in july, 1949. lt is composed of schools in Avena, XVheat- land, and Louden Townships, as Well as the St. Elmo Grade and High Schools. During regular meetings, at which they discuss the problems of the unit, the board meets the educational needs of the young people of this community. By increasing the transportation facilities and staff personnel it has been possible to give boys and girls the advan- tages of hot lunches and the medical services of the county health and school authorities.
