A Ouncl YJ '.' filo, Ever striving to represent the student body, our council has worked to meet these goals: to provide training in democratic citizen- ship, to promote closer relationship between faculty and student body, to encourage higher scholarship, and to increase loyalty and school spirit. Our president, Marshall Blankenship, instituted a Student Cov- ernment Day with the members of the Student council acting as teachers on November 20, 1950. To earn funds for sending delegates to the state convention of student councils, our council produced three one-act plays under thc supervision of Miss Ayers and student directors VVanda Garrett and Hobart Landreth. The Council organized the Homecoming Day program, distributed the concessions at football and basketball games to the classes and organizations, planned and presided at assemblies, and welcomed the freshmen to high school at the all-school party in September.
