2 XE H EW 'L s 5 f S 1 FOREWORD We, the Class of l96O, as we emerge from the halls of St. Elizabeth High School, are aware that this is the commencement-- the beginning--for which we have been getting ready. We have been preparing ourselves for a world of change-Q a world of change: the St. Elizabeth High School of i956 to l96O. We have seen structural changes in our school and in our neighborhood, and there have been changes of personnel among our classmates, our teachers, and our friends. We ourselves have changed, as our diplomas testify. As we set out over this shifting sea of life, we confidently adopt an unchanging course toward our unchanging Goal. May our unchanging Guide keep us ever on this course. ln the following pages we have record- ed some of the achievements of our high school years, in the hope that the memory of what we accomplished under the devo- ted guidance of the Fathers of the Divine Word and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacra- ment may spur us on to eternal success. dministration I BELOW: Father Shapker, familiar to us in his Mass VGSIIDGHICS, distributes Holy Communion at Baccalaureate Mass. PASTOR LEFT: REV. CLEMENT SHAPKER, s.V.D., Pastor of sr. Elizabeth. Although Father Shapker is best known to us as a spiritual leader, we will not forget his concern for our material well being, which has led to several changes this year in St. Elizabeth. Despite huge financial obs- tacles, Father forged ahead and rebuilt the interior of the school, installed a new fire alarm system, and arranged for complete sprinkler coverage. He further enhanced our academic surroundings with new lights and beautiful decorating. Regardless of his many cares Father has always remained our personal and beloved friend. We gratefully salute him! BELOW: Father Shapker, in Class Day role, awards Choir medals to Royalm etta Mayo Qcenterj and Katherine Payton. u PRINCIPAL BELOW: SR. M. On May 6, Marion Gandy, one of our best-beloved classmates, answered the summons to eternal life. Now we saw, as never before, the beauty and value of a life spent faithful to daily assignments and duties, generous and thoughtful of every one, and always striving for perfection in school work and daily living. As we shared the sorrow of her family and friends, we were consoled by the certainty that her life had been a success--the only true success there is.
