APEL F THE PA T nixx X il. i i , 'A r N Alu. 3 1 5 Closing of Forty Hours' Devotion The chapel of the past was tt very dear friend of countless souls to whom she was Ll haven of quiet and pence. Her four humble walls kept silent wziteli over the Divine Being behind the Tnbernncle doors .ind she often smiled lovingly upon His frequent visitors. For three glorious days each year she was with Him constantly as He remained present upon the altar during the observance of Forty Hours' Devotion. Daily she listen- ed to the sound of voices uplifted in prayer and song as their owners assisted at the Holy Saerifiee of the Mass, She was privileged to watch innumerable persons reeeive the S.lLl'.lIlR'IH of the Holy Eueharist. 'lille sight of seniors in caps and gowns at gratluii- tion nt-ver f.tiled to move her .ind she often xnhispered tt silent prayer for their happiness .ind well-being, both physigil .ind spiritudl. 36 'sl I CHAPEL CDF THE PRESENT The chapel of the present has accepted the precious tasks of her faithful predecessor. She it is who now plays hostess to the Divine Guest. She, who witnesses daily the offering of the Body and Blood of Christ, sees with joy more hearts than ever before welcome their Beloved Visitor. She has ample accommodation for any who care to make her their friend and she, too, smiles tenderly upon those who visit her frequently to breathe a brief prayer. She has not yet been privileged to witness Forty Hours' Devotion, but eagerly awaits those three days next fall. She has carefully learned the prayer to be whispered above the heads of the white-robed graduates and she will use it for the first time in June as she bades the class of ,58 farewell and sends them out into the world.
