Hepee Fzeljilleelj Seniors Threlleei Excited seniors and privileged freshmen as participants, sopho- mores, juniors, parents and friends as audience, filled the academy audi- torium, Sept. 20 for the distribution of the senior class rings. Defying custom, freshmen shared the honor with their big sistern by acting as ring bearers. The program began with an ad- dress by the chaplain, Father Boni- AJ They Receive Cleese Rings' of '56 X face, O.F.M. in which he proposed the T.P.C. plan for the year-co-op- eration with teachers, parents and re- spective classes. Father then blessed the rings after which Sister Mary Bernard, C.PP.S., principal, spoke of the ring as a symbol of Elizabethan ideals. E'Three Rousing Cheers for S. E. Af' concluded the program. Un Their Wa l The seniors of the Academy met the early morning of Tuesday, Oct. ll, with peals of laugh- ter and song, as they boarded two Greyhound busses bound for Springfield and New Salem, for their annual educational-recreational trip. Accompanied by Sisters Mary Salome and Ig- natia, C.PP.S. they filled the long hours of riding with songs and recitation of the rosary. Upon arriving in Springfield they enjoyed a guided tour through the Capitol where they saw Page Fourteen i Equipped with cameras and lunch kits, the seniors board the busses for the annual educa- tional-recreational tour of the year. the rooms in which the representatives and the senators of Illinois preside. The second stop was New Salem where the fea- ture attraction was the authentic log cabin village erected in the style of Lincolnis day. Lunch had an added flavor in the picnic grounds of the tourist park. A visit to Lincoln's tomb in Oak Ridge Cemetery was another point of inter- est. The joy-filled day ended when the tired but enthusiastic seniors arrived at the Academy at 8:30 p.m.
