EALS OF laughter could be heard coming from the Missouri-Pacific busses as the two groups of seniors accompanied by Sisters Mary Patrice and Marguerite Ann, C.PP.S. traveled toward jefferson City, Wednesday, Sept. 29. Mr. Walter Toberman, Secretary of State, greeted the tourists at the Capitol. He arranged for a tour through the magnificent structure and an introduction to Governor Donnelly. After a light snack the group boarded the busses once more for a visit to the shrines of Our Lady of LaSalette. Mid the singing of hymns and recitation of prayers one of the LaSalette Fathers explained the story connected with the apparitions. The first meeting with the Virgin of LaSalette aroused such enthusiasm that the girls decided to choose her as their class patron. After a quick supper climaxed with Three Rousing Cheers for S.E.A. the day was completed with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Page Twenty-five CL Bt C, zilzitotrjy Queen Colonel Robert H. HE CRADLE SONG was presented by the Footlight Club of S.E.A. under the direction of Miss Marguerite Brewer, Tuesday, Nov. 23. The play unfolded the problems confronting a convent of cloistered nuns who found a baby girl on their doorstep. The Vicaress stands staunchly for the rule which forbids all worldly love, while the other nuns believe they would be practicing true Christian charity by keeping the infant. With the permission of their Superiors and the help of a kindly doctor they are permitted to adopt the child whom they name Theresa. At 18 she meets and falls in love with a young architect named Antonio. Thev intend to marry and move to America. When the two young lovers have departed, all the nuns deeply affected by the departure, prepare to go to chapel. The Vicaress sensing their feelings tries to brush aside their emotions, but in the doing shows how keenly she feels the loss of Theresa and proves to her community that she is as human as they. HE GOAL of the Saint Caecilia Schola, which is composed of stu- dents of the junior and senior classes, is a more active participation in the liturgy of the Church. To accomplish this goal, the girls. under the direction of Sister Mary Paschal, C.PP.S., lead the singing of the student High Masses. The peak of their accomplishment this year was the singing of the Solemn High Mass November 19 in honor of Saint Elizabeth, the patron of S.E.A. Page Forty-four ettettt Days With od ff OR HEAVEN'S sake, what on earth am I doing? This was the thought stressed by Rev. Gilbert Hayden, O.S.M., during the annual junior-senior retreat, jan. 31, Feb. 1 and 2. Feb. 5, 4 and 5 were devoted to the freshman-sophomore retreat. Each day was begun with Holy Mass at which the students implored the help of the Holy Spirit. Father Hayden's store of personal experi- ences and applications, together with his abili- ty as a retreat master, served to make each con- ference both interesting and inspirational. Highlights of the three days of meditation and prayer were the conferences on vocations, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the sacrament of Penance, chastity and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Rev. Gilbert Hayden, 0.S.M. EV. LOUIS J. HANLON, SJ., vice- provincial of the Missouri Province of the Society of Jesus, conducted a day of recollection for the seniors, Sunday, May 15. This year, in addition to its regular activities, the P.-T.A. sponsored a family night. Students of the Academy presented skits depicting incidents in the life of Elizabeth, the Elizabethan. Proceeds of all P.-T.A. activities will be used to install an inter-communication system in the school. These projects were conducted under the leadership of the P.-T.A, officers: Mr. Jim Boland, President, Mr. Carl Hanneke, vice-president, Mrs, William Lawler, secretary, and Mr. Alvin joseph, treasurer.
