In birth through Baptism, the grace of Truth surges gently through the immortal soul of man making it everlastingly one with the Way that is Christ, suffering then glorious, inseparably uniting the Life and this infant member of His Mystical Body. To Thee, O Lord of the Universe, Who compassionately conceived of eternal coalition with Thy creatures, we, the graduates of Nine- teen Hundred and Forty-Four, humbly dedicate the pages between these covers, and moreover, our entire lives. We beseech Thee, jesus, to ever warm the hearts of Elizabethans in the lambent flames of Thy Sacred Heart, that thus sheltered in the healing Wound of Thy Loving Heart we may one day achieve complete realization of Thy Divine Benevolencei Unworthy though we know our- selves to be, we petition from Thy Hands, pierced with rubies of lovexfor us, the merciful forgiveness which is our solitary support as we falteringly strive to walk in Thy Footsteps leading to the Divine Presence. In our four years at St. Elizabeth Academy, we have received from Your Hands the triply strong unity with the Way-with the Truth-with the Life which we cherish most intimately, confident that in the years to come we will be supported by this oneness and go onward and upward until the summit is attained and we may adore Thee face to face Who has lived in us, and Whom we, as travelers in life, have diligently striven to emulate.

gtzcciuilty Throughout the year FATHER CYPRIAN EMANUEI., O.F.M., religion instructor and chaplain, has won the admiration and respect of the entire student body by his unlimited source of knowledge and fine sense of humor. If you .ring you will be happy, is the motto of DOM ERMIN VITRY, O.S.B., choral director of the Academy. He has given to the members of his chorus invaluable lessons in musical appreciation which they will carry with them thsough their lives. A shining example to every one of the Academy students is the quiet, charming MOTHER M. WILHELMINE. Her ways and manner are an inspiration to every Elizabethan. Her words of experience, too, are treasured as precious embroidery in the tapestry of life. SISTER PRAXEDES, the directress, is a kind friend, a solicitous guide and a wise counselor. In a word, Sister is a real mother to all, sharing the difficulties and multiplying the joys of upper and lower classmen alike. A knowledge of literature makes a person live more fully, a deep and sincere appreciation of the works of the great masters intensifies the cultural outlook of life and thus makes for abiding happiness. Such is SISTER AQUINA'S message as she smilingly goes from one class to the other showing her students how much pleasure and profit can be derived from the world of books. Coaching her famous debate team, teaching Cicero and Virgil, preparing students for oratorical contests, and presiding over the senior home room must be what keeps SISTER VENANTIA so busy, gay and happy. If any student has a puzzling English sentence or a particularly confusing history date, SISTER CHRYSOLOGA has the answer. For her junior classes Sister links American literature and American history together in a most interesting fashion. The literary works of the English authors ranging from Chaucer to Chesterton are interestingly analyzed by SISTER MARY LOUIS. She keeps the freshmen wide-eyed as she explains the fundamentals of the Lingua Latina and the sophomores tense as they read of the exploits of Caesar. Despite her untiring effort on behalf of the Tb1wingia1z, Sister always has a bright smile and cheerful word for everyone. ZKCIO-3 T ZKCI 'l' 30-2. Perhaps this looks a bit complicated to you, but SISTER MARY BERNARD teaches this, and many more like it to her senior chemistry class. Sister also has a collection of the best recipes which she teaches to the future homemakers of her home economics class. The great Greek gods, the Roman heroes, and the early pioneers all come to life as SISTER LOYOLA teaches World History to the sophomores. Sister also has a group of freshmen convinced that the Latin language is by no means a dead one.
