'G ia L04 I mf- The Heritage Of A Catholic Education HOU ART the God of my heart and the God that is my portion forever fps LXXII 265 ln these simple yet lnexhaustlble words beautiful in their simplicity overwhelm mg in their lnexhaustlbllxty the psalmlst sounded the motive for Christian education From the time of the Apostles down to our own day men and women have followed the Savior s behest to teach all nations These devoted teachers have been and are daily endeavormg to make Christ better known loved and honored working and praying that His benign presence be experienced to the fullest extent in the lives of their students St Elizabeth Academy ln the more than fifty years of lts existence has ever had a thoroughly Christian training as its prime purpose Personal attachment to Chrlst is the most secure and productive means of the infusion of Christ life into the souls of others To attain this lofty aim the Students are taught the value of the Holy Sacrlfice of the Mass and participate daily in the Missa Recitata The annual retreat intensifies and summarizes the thoughts of the regular religion classes The Sodalxty and Legion of Mary attempt in their separate yet umted enterprises to lead the girls to Christ through Mary Cardinal Newman has very truthfully and convincingly said lt s Fulhll this boast in yourselves continues His Eminence vlndlcate the glory of your mother Mary go to her for the royal heart of innocence And so Ellzabethans love honor and venerate Heaven s ueen and theirs trying to reproduce the image of the most valiant woman ln thelr lives ln their various ways they will be called to par tlclpate in special vocations But whatever the future holds out for them they have dedicated themselves to the common task of seeking the peace of Christ in the reign of Christ May the women of a great and splendid tomorrow devote themselves in deed and word to a zealous apostolate for the love of their Eucharistic King' Having experienced His blessings and favors in their happy school davs they face life s problems with con fidence mindful of St Cvprlan s words As the depth of the chalice of trust varies so will vary the amount of the heavenly water which God pours into it The greater our hope the greater our hope s reallzatlon They will be certain then of seeing the fulfillment of their Ideals and will be able to exclalm with the psalmlst Lord Thou art our portion in time and eternity' O 0 0 the boast of the Catholic religion, that it has the gift of making the heart chaste. . . .
