The 1979 baseball team compiled a 35-18 record, breaking several records in the process. In addition to most wins, the hilltoppers also captured new records for doubles 1811, homeruns 1301, sacrifices 1501, runs 13561, runs batted in 13561, walks 12801, complete games 1271, innings pitched 13551, and lowest pitching earned run average 13251. Several individual on e-year career records were also re-writ- 1611. Coach John Knorras hilltoppers filed an even 6-6 conference winfloss record, with the difference between a fourth place standing and a conference championship resting on the wings of one run ball games that went the wrong way. Though this year's squad will return an equally potent and powerful conference contender the likes of seniors and the names that were so prevalent in S. E. U. baseball will sorely be missed. To these toppers, people like Kenny Goode, Leo Lindeman, Marty Massey, Steve Drury, David Luczkowski, and Ernie Saldivar, players who occupied the batter's box with commanding authority, we wish you well and miss your bats. Senior pitchers Rick Butcher and the sensational two-four, James Ellison will not only be missed but remembered for their outstanding perfor- mances on the mound. Albert Ochoa
