Czech Club A new and very active organization took form early in the school year with the founding of the Czech Club, composed of those students who are of a Bohe- mian or Polish nationality. It has for its purpose to create a more lively and cnthuastic interest in the Czech language, and to promote the interests of the University in the various Bohemian localities of Texas. It is hoped by the members, that this club may gain Statewide publicity in order that more Czech students will come to St. Edward's. With no precedent as a guide for their proceedings the club snapped into action in the very opening weeks of i school. Officers for the club were elected, and a Constitution was adopted. Dues were assessed, and with them, social gatherings were held. With the intention of having a Bohemian class started at the Uni- versity, the Czechs worked with earnest zeal with this point in view. Receiving donations from different societies and good-hearted people for this purpose, these dreams were ac- complished when a class was started at the beginning of the ,second semester with the Rev. Paul Kasper of Plum, as professor. It is the hope of the club that this class will con- tinue in the University, and that next year a Bohemian professor will be ac- quired for this purpose. These classes are being held twice a week, and are attended fully by the members. Tap: JOHN BARTA, PR15s1DENT. W Outer raw: BIELKOWSKIQ GAIDAQ KMIEC. 1 Inner row: FALTISEKQ Hvzsoosg KOPECKY. Page 66
