North Texas Club CCONTINUEDD The first initiation held in the early part of the school year saw twenty five new members brought into the club. Of this number many were new students but several old students were also among the class. At the beginning of the second semester the club, eager to keep the club alive with new members initiated another class but this time of only two candidates. In order to keep in close connection with the faculty of the school, and to have the advice of someone more experienced, the club this year elected Rev James J. O'Brien as its sponsor. By speaking occasionally at the meetings to the members and through con- ference with its officers the club is enabled to receive proper advice and supervision. Another step taken by the club to insure its permanency was the selec- tion of standard pins for the members. Members were requested to purchase and wear the pins selected. An at- tractive letterhead was made up and stationery for the club was purchased. Everything that could be done to ' make the club permanent was actual- . ized by them. Top: J. Donsav. Inner row: C. This club which was organized in 1928 has for its purpose the fostering of a fraternal spirit among the students in the University who live within the bound- ary lines defined by it. A second- ary aim is the. propagation of inter- . ' Y I est in St. Edward's among the young men of North Texas. Although it was the first club of its kind on the camp- us, the past school year '28-'29 it . We T quickly gained recognition from the I .Al 1 1 .. ,,r, .V faculty as well as the student body, due to its ever active members. As a result of their efforts in their 5 part of the state many new students from North Texas were enrolled in i the University at the beginning of 1 this school year. North Texas Cllulb CCONTINUEDD With the inauguration of the Intra-Mural leagues on the campus the North Texas Club was the first to enter. They have entered teams in each of the basketball and baseball tournaments. Their basketball team was among the best and they were a threat for the championship to their last game. In the Indoor Baseball league the club finished a close third. In the regular baseball league Captain Busby has led his men into a tie for first place. At present the team has several more games to play, and though they are not the favorites to win the league they intend being serious threats until the iinal gong. In the Intra-mural track and field meet to be held later in the year the club in- tends to present another strong team. Though this is the first year of Intra- mural competition among the clubs, this club like the other Texas clubs is doing its best to perpetuate the leagues. Regular club meetings are held twice a month and are always well attended. Here the regular business is discussed and plans laid for their own advancement. Each meeting is usually followed by some kind of entertainment for the benefit of the members. Regular dues besides the initiation fee are charged in order to help carry on the business of the club.
