NeofScIh1olIastic Society QCONCLUDEDD A splendid expression of the character of the work done by the members of the Neo-Scholastic Society in the past year was given in the Philosophers' number of the Echo published in April, and which contained some of the out- standing essays of the year. The importance of the work of the society may be readily seen since in this day and time there are many false philosophical doctrines being taught young students in many of the large universities and there is a crying need for men to represent and uphold the truth so that not only the truth but also religion will not suffer. Neo-Selholastiic Society The Neo-Scholastic Society, the philosophical society, was founded several years ago by Father Schumacher. The society is devoted entirely to the dis- cussion of philosophical questions at its regular meetings, which supplement the work done in the various philosophical classes. Meetings are held regularly twice a month and at these, papers written by members on some interesting or important philosophical topic are read. Lively discussions follow which some- times devlop into heated arguments. St. Thomas Aquinas day was cele- brated by all the philosophers in the traditional manner. Father Hagerty ofhciated at a special Mass and Father O'Brien delivered a short address on St. Thomas, the patron of Catholic philosophers. A meeting was held at 10 o'clock at which several papers were read and discussed, and at which Archbishop Hurth gave an interesting talk. A banquet for the members followed this at one o'clock. South Texas Club This club, which was organized for the purpose of becoming more closely connected with and to promote the school spirit in the southern towns of Texas, was started on January 23, 1930. Immediately after organization, election of ofhcers was held, and a constitution adopted.
